One such post, shared by Ferriola Ohm Marie and Lovely Tips, linked to a blog from American-Info.com with the misleading title, “15 minutes ago / Family announced the sad news of Legend singer Reba McEntire / Farewell in tears.”

Celebrity death hoaxes are nothing new, but as the rumour gained traction, worried fans were left shaken.

An article published by American-Info.com on February 26, 2025, revives a long-debunked hoax, falsely claiming that Reba McEntire perished in a 1991 plane crash along with seven band members and her tour manager.

Despite the viral hoax, Reba McEntire has been actively sharing updates about her NBC sitcom Happy’s Place on Instagram. Just last week, Variety announced that the show has been renewed for a second season. Rather than disappearing from the spotlight, Reba is set to make an even bigger mark on television!

While it’s true that Reba McEntire tragically lost several band members and her tour manager in a 1991 plane crash, she was not on board. The accident occurred after a concert when the group flew ahead to the next tour stop. Meanwhile, McEntire, her husband and manager Narvel Blackstock, and her stylist Sandi Spika stayed behind in San Diego for the night, according to Taste of Country.

In 2018, Reba McEntire had honoured her late band members with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, remembering them as “Friends forever.” She shared photos of those she lost, writing, “I know Suzy and Joe join me in saying we miss you guys and still love you with all our hearts! 27 years… seems like yesterday. #musicinheaven #lovealways.”
