Andrew Glennon Battles Sisters Over Late Mother’s $8.5M Estate in Escalating Legal Feud

Teen Mom star Andrew Glennon battles own family in war over late mom's $8.5m estate and claims he's 'shut out' of talks | The US Sun

Andrew Glennon, best known as the ex-boyfriend of Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, is now entrenched in a bitter legal battle with his own family over his late mother’s multi-million-dollar estate. In court documents filed in Los Angeles last week, Glennon, 41, alleges he was excluded from critical mediation discussions and coerced into signing an agreement under duress—a claim that could significantly impact the division of the estimated $8.55 million inheritance.

Shut Out and Pressured

In a signed affidavit submitted to the court, Glennon describes being left alone for over 45 minutes while his sisters, Juliet and Meghan Glennon, along with their attorney, held private discussions with the mediator. When the mediator returned, he allegedly asked whether Glennon had signed the estate agreement.

“I told them I had not,” Glennon wrote. “There was pressure on me to skim the document quickly, and I signed it under extreme duress, not knowing what I had signed.”

The reality TV alum claims the document includes provisions and language he had not previously reviewed, including references to property in Sonoma County that had never been part of his mother’s estate. He also objected to clauses covering legal fees for his sister’s counsel and requested that the agreement be invalidated, citing coercion and lack of proper understanding at the time of signing.

The Family Fortune

Glennon’s mother, Charmaine Witus, passed away on April 19, 2024, leaving behind a fortune largely built through the family’s deep roots in the entertainment industry. The estate includes multiple high-value properties, including a sprawling compound in Malibu.

Charmaine was the widow of James Glennon, a respected, Emmy-winning cinematographer known for his work on HBO’s Deadwood and the film About Schmidt. Glennon’s grandfather, Bert Glennon, was a Hollywood cinematography pioneer who worked alongside iconic directors John Ford and Cecil B. DeMille.

The court-filed will confirms that Charmaine acknowledged four living children: Meghan, Allison, Juliet, and Andrew. However, she made the highly controversial choice to exclude her daughter Allison from any inheritance, stating explicitly that the omission was intentional and not the result of error.

“I give the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to my children, Meghan E. Glennon, Juliet C. Glennon and Andrew J. Glennon in equal shares per right of representation,” Charmaine wrote in her will. That arrangement would award each of the three heirs roughly $2.85 million before taxes, legal expenses, and any other deductions.

A Messy Custody History

Andrew Glennon’s strained family dynamics come on the heels of his high-profile custody battle with ex-fiancée Amber Portwood. The couple, who share a 7-year-old son, James, split in 2019 amid allegations of domestic violence.

In a 2022 decision obtained by The U.S. Sun, an Indiana judge awarded Glennon sole legal and primary physical custody of James. The ruling allowed him to relocate from Indiana to California, where he initially lived with his mother in Malibu before moving to another family-owned estate in Santa Barbara.

The court heavily referenced Portwood’s published memoir, So You’re Crazy, Too?, in its judgment. The judge cited passages in which Portwood candidly discussed her struggles with substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health.

“She discusses her significant history of substance abuse, her history of domestic violence, her volatile attitude and propensity for aggression,” the judge noted, adding that Portwood expressed concern in the book about potentially being “unwatched and unchecked” after coming off probation.

Now, Glennon finds himself once again at the center of a deeply personal legal crisis—this time with his own family. In his recent filing, he argues that the estate mediation was marred by secrecy and imbalance. The reference to an allegedly unrelated property in Sonoma County has further fueled his concerns.

“This agreement comes off as being very coercive,” Glennon wrote. “There’s so much more found here than what was mentioned in the actual mediation.”

Glennon has indicated he will be retaining legal counsel to assist with future proceedings and hopes to have the existing agreement nullified. His sister Meghan, named as executor of the estate, has not publicly responded to the allegations.

A Legacy in Limbo

At its core, the Glennon family dispute is not just about money—it’s about power, trust, and legacy. With the family’s Hollywood lineage and high-profile connections, the case is drawing increased attention not only for its legal implications but also for the emotional and psychological toll it has taken on those involved.

As the battle over Charmaine Witus’s estate unfolds, Andrew Glennon is navigating both a complex legal landscape and a strained relationship with his siblings. With millions of dollars and deep-seated family tensions at stake, the dispute shows no signs of resolution anytime soon.

Whether the court will invalidate the signed agreement remains to be seen. What’s clear is that for Andrew Glennon, life after Teen Mom has been anything but quiet
