Fox News Makes Historic Anchoring Move: Campos-Duffy and Jones Tapped for Breakthrough Roles
Fox News is doubling down on familiar faces with a bold shakeup to its morning programming lineup. In a significant leadership decision, network CEO Suzanne Scott has promoted Rachel Campos-Duffy to permanent co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend and appointed Lawrence Jones as enterprise reporter for the entire Fox & Friends franchise. The announcement marks a historic milestone for the cable news giant and signals a strategic shift in its approach to audience engagement.
Campos-Duffy, a longtime contributor and the current host of Fox Nation’s Moms, will officially replace Jedediah Bila on Fox & Friends Weekend beginning June 12. She will join existing co-hosts Pete Hegseth and Will Cain in anchoring what is currently America’s highest-rated cable morning show.
“What an honor and blessing to be the new co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend—America’s #1 rated cable morning show!” Campos-Duffy wrote in an Instagram post. “I’m beyond excited to work with my friends Pete Hegseth and Will Cain to inform, entertain, and represent our amazing, patriotic, and loyal viewers.”
Campos-Duffy is no stranger to viewers. A conservative commentator and real-life mother of nine, she has long resonated with the network’s core demographic. Her ability to balance serious political discourse with personal storytelling has made her a fan favorite across various Fox platforms.
A Strategic Move for a Legacy Brand
In a press release issued Monday, Suzanne Scott emphasized the importance of relatable personalities to the network’s continued success.
“The success of Fox & Friends can be attributed to the program covering stories Americans care about with relatable co-hosts and reporters they can trust,” said Scott. “Over the years, our audience has connected with Rachel and Lawrence through their frequent guest appearances and as fill-in hosts on the curvy couch. We are delighted to name them permanent fixtures on our signature morning franchise.”
The decision underscores Fox News’s commitment to solidifying viewer trust through consistency and familiarity, especially during a time when media consumption habits continue to evolve rapidly. By elevating Campos-Duffy and Jones—two voices already well-known to the Fox audience—the network is betting on a blend of continuity and fresh perspective to maintain its ratings dominance.
Lawrence Jones: Expanding the Field Role
Lawrence Jones, who hosts Keeping Up with Jones on Fox Nation and regularly contributes across the network, will now serve as the Fox & Friends enterprise reporter. His new role will involve on-the-ground feature reporting across the weekday and weekend editions of the program, a move that suggests Fox is placing greater emphasis on immersive, field-based journalism.
“The journey continues… I am excited to take on a new role as enterprise reporter across the Fox & Friends franchise and continue my feature reporting on the ground, following the news wherever it may take me,” Jones tweeted.
Jones has been a standout presence during breaking news coverage and political reporting from across the U.S. His in-depth interviews and ability to engage with communities at the heart of America’s most urgent stories have earned him both credibility and a loyal following.
Diversity and Representation in Conservative Media
The appointments of Campos-Duffy, a Latina woman, and Jones, an African American journalist, also reflect an evolving diversity within the traditionally conservative media space. As Fox News continues to draw some of the largest audiences in cable news, this move sends a clear message about the network’s desire to reflect a broader swath of American life—without compromising its ideological identity.
Both Campos-Duffy and Jones have spoken openly about their backgrounds and how their personal experiences shape their approach to journalism. Campos-Duffy, the daughter of Mexican immigrants and a devout Catholic, often discusses issues relating to faith, family, and freedom. Jones, known for his compelling field segments, brings a perspective rooted in his Texas upbringing and firsthand reporting across America’s political and cultural frontlines.
Reinforcing a Ratings Powerhouse
Fox & Friends Weekend remains one of Fox News’s most successful properties, consistently outperforming rivals in the competitive morning show slot. The addition of Campos-Duffy is expected to further strengthen its appeal to core viewers who prize traditional values and grassroots perspectives.
Meanwhile, Jones’s expanded role is likely to boost the network’s capacity for dynamic coverage—especially during election season, when real-time, ground-level reporting becomes crucial.
Together, these changes position Fox News to adapt to shifting viewer expectations while staying rooted in the programming that has made it a dominant force in cable news.
Looking Ahead
As the media landscape continues to shift, Fox News’s decision to elevate trusted, recognizable voices speaks volumes about its long-term strategy. Rather than overhaul its programming, the network is fine-tuning it—leaning into authenticity, accessibility, and strategic star power.
With Rachel Campos-Duffy and Lawrence Jones stepping into their new roles, the future of Fox & Friends may look familiar—but it also promises to be more compelling than ever.
